An article today on ARLnow.com captured and voiced concerns by local disability advocates about the lack of proposed parking at the Arlington Boathouse site. The full article can be read HERE.

As a board, the Arlington Boathouse Foundation has consistently worked to incorporate ideas for accommodating those with physical disabilities into the master planning and design phases of the project, which have yet to commence. Opportunities to access the river offer countless benefits to those with disabilities, including our veterans, many of whom are part of our community. We look forward to amplifying the voices of key stakeholders, in particular representatives from the disability community, to make the Boathouse and Potomac River accessible for all Arlington residents. We are grateful for the DAC’s voice and for highlighting this essential need. As the more formal master planning process starts in 2026, we will continue to encourage the County to seek ideas and input from across Arlington.  Finally, we anticipate some exciting announcements regarding the project very soon, including a capital fundraising push by ABF, which will demonstrate the significant community support for this long-planned facility.
