On April 18th, Washington-Liberty HS Crew celebrated the legacy of pioneering athlete, Ellie Cochran ’73, who was the first woman to win a gold medal at the National Schoolboy Regatta as a coxswain for the men’s rowing program. She blazed a trail for the women’s program at W-L, which started in 1975, but more importantly, she showed our community the impact that opportunities like rowing can have on an entire generation of athletes, male and female. Those opportunities and experiences can’t happen without access to the river, and the Arlington Boathouse project will offer just that to young people in our community for decades to come. Thanks, Ellie, and thanks to everyone who pushes forward to the finish line!
